The sample set contained five UOC powder samples of known origin and a sixth sample of unknown origin (blind sample) were analyzed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Kazakhstan Institute of Nuclear Physics, Japan Atomic Energy Agency and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Centre for Energy Research. The objective of the joint sample analysis exercise was to characterize the uranium ore concentrate samples according to a well-developed analytical plan, and use the measured material characteristics to populate a nuclear forensics library. This library is then used to establish potential links between the blind sample and the samples of known origin. The four participating laboratories compared data and analysis methods, and shared best practices on the implementation of a national nuclear forensics library.

Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and National Research Institute of Police Science (NRIPS) have been working on technology development to develop the capabilities for responding nuclear security event involving nuclear and other radioactive materials out of regulatory control (MORC) in Japan. Those institutes have information exchange and research cooperation for more effective development and improvement of the national capabilities and strengthening international nuclear security. In this paper, current status and future prospects on technology development by the two institutes for contributing to the response capabilities for nuclear security event involving MORC.

第1回核セキュリティサミットでのナショナルステートメントに基づき、原子力機構に2010年12月ISCNが設立された。ISCNでは、核物質測定・検知技術及び核鑑識技術開発に2011年度から取り組んできている。本ペーパーでは、核セキュリティ強化のための10年間にわたる技術開発について報告する。なお、Interactive Content Presentationによる発表である。
